I can't match your eloquence, Tom, probably because I can't even communicate with monkeys, chopped-down forest debris, or even Mama (hope she had a Happy; would be happier if that stock you gave her was up to $225 per share). At any rate, CKFR's tightrope walk must keep banks, brokers and portals all happy. Those guys must want to gain customers and eyeballs without being too cutthroat. It also means their backend service provider cannot be wholly-owned by one of their own (Yahoo is a taboo).
This still leaves lots of potential acquisitors in the financial service, computer software, and other internet-related fields. Poison pills are usually as impotent as Pfizer's best customers. However, management can fight and this management is needed to execute the business plan. IMHO, Pete Kight didn't struggle for almost two decades to build this company just to cut-and-run at midfield -- maybe after they've crossed the finish line. At that point, the oddsmakers will put much higher numbers on the value of this bet than most of us imagine now. This is still the time to hold'em, not yet to (takeover) fold'em.
