Telia Stofa Expands Com21 Service with New DOCSIS Cable Modems; Second-largest Operator in Denmark Adds Com21 DOCSIS Cable Modem Service
MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 1999--Com21, Inc., (Nasdaq:CMTO), Europe's leading cable modem supplier, today announced that its DOCSIS-compliant DOXport(TM) cable modems have been selected by Denmark's second largest cable operator, Telia Stofa A/S.
Telia Stofa plans to expand its existing cable modem service to include standards-compliant modems manufactured by Com21. Earlier in the week, Canadian-based Mountain Cablevision Ltd. of Hamilton, Ontario in North America announced that it would deploy Com21 DOXport cable modems.

Telia Stofa began commercial cable Internet operations using Com21's ATM-based ComUNITY(R) Access system in 1997 in subscriber locations throughout Denmark.

"Telia Stofa has been a customer of ours since 1997 and we are very pleased to be furthering our relationship with them," said Pete Fenner, president and chief executive officer at Com21. "We are gratified to know that they have found our products to be fast, reliable and stable. We are very pleased that they have selected Com21 as they move to advanced standards-based products," added Fenner.

In benchmark results announced by Com21 at the Western Cable Show in December 1998, Com21 demonstrated "wire speed" DOXport throughput of 14,880 packets per second.
