. Gee Neil, were your technical disruptions reported on page 15???

Dear Interactive Journal subscriber,
Today marks the third anniversary of The Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition. Whether you've been a subscriber since the beginning or you're fairly new to the Interactive Journal, each of you deserves a special thank you for your support. Some of you also deserve an apology for the occasional technical disruptions you've endured in recent weeks.
As the Interactive Journal has been preparing for its fourth year of existence, we've been adding capacity, improving systems and developing some exciting new features. While we make every effort to try to ensure that such work doesn't disrupt your ability to use the Interactive Journal, we haven't always been successful. For that we apologize. We believe the remaining work we have planned in the coming weeks will go more smoothly and you'll see marked improvements in performance.
When you see the new Personal Journal Portfolio, I believe you'll think some of the difficulties of recent weeks were worth the trouble. You'll find it much easier to set up and edit a portfolio. You'll be able to customize the columns displayed, so you can see the data you prefer. And you'll be able to track end-of-day options prices and stocks in Canada, London and Hong Kong, as well as cash in more than 50 currencies. We'll send you more details on the enhancements when we release the new portfolio next week.
The new Portfolio culminates a year of extensive growth in our data offerings. Over the past year, we've expanded Markets Data Center with new data on futures, IPOs and the Euro, among other categories. Our Company Briefing Books now cover more than 22,000 companies world-wide, including interactive charting of stocks in Canada, the U.K. and Hong Kong. We also added Mutual Fund Briefing Books and pricing data on international funds. We have plenty more additions planned for the coming year.
Our fourth year also will see continued expansion of our global news coverage, building on the unique reporting added over the past year. You now can read more frequent Heard on the Net and Cyber Investing columns, John Dodge's E-conomy column and our daily travel features. We've recently added special coverage of technology in Asia.
To keep abreast of the news, you may wish to sign up for a few of the 14 e-mail options we now offer, ranging from daily summaries to alerts when major news breaks. Visit Personal Journal E-Mail Center to sign up.
I've touched on but a few of the improvements and additions we've made to the Interactive Journal this year. Many of these changes resulted from suggestions from you, our subscribers. I read every e-mail message sent to feedback@interactive.wsj.com and many of you have written me directly at budde@interactive.wsj.com. I look forward to another year of making the Interactive Journal even better-- and an even better fit with your needs.
Best regards,
Neil Budde Editor |
