Don't be sardonic - I was just pointing out that Qualcomm's plans to manufacture W-CDMA handsets will most likely founder. It's possible that licensing income can fund even a costly flop. But the companies that have planned for the global acceptance of W-CDMA years in advance will be well positioned to reap most of the benefits. You know - most of W-CDMA equipment will be sold to current GSM operators, Korea and Japan are the exceptions. GSM know-how and a strong brand among GSM customers are vitally important. NTT-Docomo has now announced that they are buying W-CDMA handsets from Ericsson and Nokia. I'll be waiting with interest when they announce an order from Qualcomm.

And BTW - the W-CDMA chiprate *is* 4.096.
