I'm confused. Maybe someone can straighten me out. I've been reading both INTC and AMD threads for many months now and there seems to be two lines of reasoning adhered to by the AMD gang.

First is that AMD's products are, and have always been, as good as Intel's. The only reason that Intel dominates, so they say, is that they use coercion to force their products on a helpless PC industry and public. This group despises Intel for its pricing strategies and business methods

Second is “build it and they will come” line of reasoning. This group seems to believe that it is all manufacturing - that all the previous Ks were destroyed by problems in manufacturing that have now been resolved.

So why do these believers think that suddenly all of the above is about to change? It seems to me that even IF AMD can build the K7 AND it lives up to all its hype (remarkably huge ifs) that Intel, who will still be the low cost producer, will cut prices to the point where AMD will once again be unprofitable. Once again, AMD's business plan of pricing themselves into a market where they are at a cost disadvantage will fail. <duh> It will hurt Intel's margins for a while but AMD will suffer more, given their precarious financial condition.

Is it any wonder this incredibly flawed business plan has earned AMD the dubious reputation of twice being voted as having one of the worst board of directors in America?
