David, I saw your questions. Please open up any VCD player and see how many chips are there. ESS offers a 2 chip for a VCD system that integrate more fucntions than a CL680. Put it the other way, if you implement a VCD player with CL680 chip, you will need more than 2 to 5 chips to match what is offered with the 2 chips from ESST. I hope this clears out your question.
