If IDX has a $10 scanner ready, it will have to be what you described. That's fine -- putting a $10 scanner in keyboards or in mouses will make the technology universal and almost transparent.

As to the software . . . it could be handled several ways. First would be a straight sale as it is now. Second, it could be bundled with the VRSN software for annual licenses. Third, some day, it could be on a 'per click' basis.

We really need some confirmation of this $10 remark, at the least to make sure it meant now rather than a few years from now.
