shouldn't individuals holding stock in the "fast copper" companies like Covad and Rhythym Net should be getting nervous ?

There's no reason for them to be nervous about the future either. That's also broadband. Because of connections and configuration problems with cable modems, xDSL is a much better solution for small business -- which is where the companies you mentioned focus their marketing. It would be great to see GNET make a portal agreement with one of those companies. Unfortunately, Microsoft has beat them too it.

In the long run, it doesn't matter that much. The pipe leads to the content. GNET is content. It will get the viewers no matter what pipe they use.
