Darrell, I made this response on the Bull to the same question and thought it was worthy enough to bring to the attention of the SI investors.

I'm trying to put the pieces of this puzzle together just like you. These withdrawls by Siemens and Alcatel could well be the result of the relationship between Nokia and IDC.

How is it that on the eve of great earnings a consortium partner decides to inform IDC that they are ending their relationship ? I would think if this was just a business decision that it would have been a courtesy of Alcatel to wait a week or so. I think it was clearly intended to hurt IDC's image to it's investors.

As you suggested Gary Lomp was in Japan with DoKoMo and I have found out this. A friend I know was trying to contact Mike Regensburg at IDC and included this in his private e-mail to me .
==================================================
"By the way, Blair told me that Mike Regensburg has been put in charge of the team that is working with Nokia and that it consumes all of his time these days out of the country. "
==================================================

This from the Nokia release today should be read carefully .

" During recent months, Nokia has conducted a number of successful WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) video trial calls, achieving data speeds of 384 kilobits per second in its laboratories in ... Japan and Finland,'' Nokia said."

How did Nokia achieve this recent success in the last few months and how old is the IDC and Nokia releationship ?

I think I've made my point.

>>>I don't see why IDC feels like they should keep all their activities under tight wraps. Competitives reasons, possibility - CDMA2000, I don't know.>>>

I think IDC may have had this under wraps because they knew it would upset Siemens and Alcatel which clearly happened. How important was it for Alcatel to do this on the eve of earnings ? As you said Nokia has opened new doors for IDC and others don't like that.
