Re: "To me, it means that you probably bought into the sector near the high prices of the previous up cycle, sold near the low, and are now faced with the difficult decision of not being invested in this sector or buying back at prices that are higher than your selling prices. How close did I come?"

Not very close at all. In fact, you are COMPLETEY WRONG on all counts.

I bought UTEK at about $22 before the last top (May 97??), rode it up to the $30's, rode it back down to $25, and placed a limit sell order to sell at $25 when it was trading at $24.875 (May 98??). Unfortunately, it traded around $24 for a few days but never made it back to $25. I still hold my original shares.

I've had much better luck with CYMI. I bought at $21 and sold at $23+ a few times back about a year ago. I got out before the debacle and bought back in at $13 (October 98???). I sold at about $28 Feb of this year, went through a quick in-and-out at about $24 in March, and bought back in at $17 a couple of weeks ago. I'm still long CYMI.

Those are the only semi equips that I've traded.

Best wishes,

I2
