Reginald,

Your argument is one concerning corporate philosophy, and I can say with certainty (based on business ethics courses and corporate philosophy courses I have taken in an MBA program) there are definite aruments with the proposition that the ONLY main objective of a public corporation is to increase shareholder value. Certainly that is a main objective, since the corp. can't exist without capital investment, but providing value to customers and employees, providing value to society, these are all values and objectives that, it has been argued, are ultimately just as important. I'm not saying this is Novell's position - I'm just saying there are other arguments on this issue. Certainly the stock is not where anyone would like it. I just think you paint a picture that is somewhat bleak - and not altogether accurate.
