RG, I found this interesting tidbit while exploring the Net Nation
Web site. NNCI is the authorized re-seller for domain names that end in .tv Which site would a kid prefer... www.kids.tv or
www.kids.org ?
These Domain Names have some great marketing potential & they are quite expensive ...$59.95 plus $1000 initial fee & $500 maintenance fee. TV is the registered extension for the country Tuvalu, but obviously will be desired by companies who will provide "Television" content over the Net of the future as the bandwidth improves. Domain names ending in TV also will be auctionable, so one could imagine some guys goobling up www.ABC.TV or www.NBC.TV or www.cnn.tv and selling them to ABC, NBC, & CNN at an increased price down the line. This did happen when Network solutions had the monopoly... companies like McDonald's had to buy "www.mcdonalds.com" at auction from some entrepreneurs that had already registered the domain name. See what I'm getting at?
I've only speculated about the XNET & NNCI connection, but certainly is a possibility with E. Cheung being involved with both companies.
Maybe we'll see some activity here eventually.
Have a great weekend.
Frank
