Interesting post on the AOL board...I never thought of it, but now AT&T will be forced to raise their bid on Media One if they really want it...

First of all, this Steeny person on the AOL board is clearly an idiot if s/he really believes AOL will be "THE" company of the next century, with or without the UMG purchase. Just ain't so. I suppose I've done my fair share of cheerleading for LU, so I can relate.

I haven't seen a new bid from Comcast with AOL/MSFT backing yet, have you? And who's to say a higher bid is necessarily a better bid? These things don't always go to the higher bidder, after all. Would you rather work for Gates or Armstrong? If I were the MSFT/Comcast/AOL crew, I'd be wetting my dungarees at the thought of going up against a shark like Armstrong; he's not the kind of guy to forget something like this, should he lose. If they hit him, they'd better go ahead and kill him, because if'n they don't he's going to come back bigger and badder than ever and unload on 'em.
