The high end graphic cards and capabilities are already there in NT/PC land. OK. You may be right I don't know that stuff. I would rather go with a speciality shop like Nvidia(NVDA) than with SGI from an investment perspective. SGI has a lot of baggage.... Competition is not new to Sun and I don't believe all that stuff will affect Sun as a business. If Sun stops making the cards and designs to plug in ATI or NVDA cards, I really don't care....as long as they make money and satisfy needs of their customer base. I do believe there is room for players other than the Wintel monopoly and Sun is well positioned to stay one...or I will not hold Sun stock. If you find good speciality shops in graphics (NVDA), and filesystems (VRTS) and go invest in them...but don't predict the doom of successful businesses who have been competing in products and markets and have management teams with good track record. If Sun wants to be competitive in graphics cards or workstations or whatever they will find a way. If not, let the best guys win and Sun can engineer their products to source from them. Sun low end machines share more things from volume PC market parts than one may know... I am no expert, but they sure look a lot like those Dells I have sitting next to them....only that they break down a lot less.
