Howie, you must be looking in the wrong places because they are open in their discussion of their utilization of this FT technology - developed at the Novocherkassk Plant of Synthetic Products located in Russia.

As for Shell and other companies looking for alternatives to slurry reactors... well...they're still looking. The quest continues to find a process that can economically convert GTL and many companies are in various stages of this development process. Whoever gets it right first will be richly rewarded as the market is truly huge. However, I believe OILS may have the technology that beats slurry reactors. And yes, the process is patented (first stage of the process known as GlidArc).
