Glad to see you worked out the problem all by yourself. After this post I will not respond again so here it is. Most brokerage firms with the RARE exception lhave been losing money for the last couple of years(discount brokerages that is). Why? Because they have been investing so heavly in technology.
The closest system developed prior to the on-line fisaco (not including the military) is the sabre system uses for airline reservations. It took years to devolope and a cost of hundreds of millions or dollars and millions of man hours. Now, all of a sudden, you have this real-time (customer wants it now) trading software that is suppose to work over night. Give me a break. The bloddy thing has only been around for about 2 years..count that..2 years and it's YEARS away from matching your expectation at the current time.
Now add in the fact the most brokerage firms were looking at a 100-150% increase over the next year. I don't think that was such a bad quess, and that's what it was , a quess. Now imagine from the middle of march till the middle of april and increase of 300% alone. Who the hell can you blame for this. You could have seen it.
Now, let's add in an average of 3-5 cfo's per hour on crap like BII or Gem, and low and behold... Overhold. First on the net servers, then on the TSE books, because these orders must be manually traded and then off course back to the phone lines because the hairdresser turned day trader is crying why her/his 633 shares of GEM is taking so long.
Regarding trading issues like viewing your orders before they go to the floor. I agree the IDA should ease those rules for discount clients but history is telling them something else. I suggest you read the CSI conduct and practise handbook. You will undoubltedly learn something and once finished I have no doubt you will that much of a better cry-baby.
I can't promote this enough...read the issues and WHY they exist!
In terms of government interference. Again, your ignorance is flashing across this screen. How many discount brokerages houses are there in Canada. Now how many substantial chains of grocery stores are there the can reach ALL areas of the country?
To top it off. Have your tried a U.S discount based in the States? (I can tell you haven't)If so , what do you think of their customer service down there? Let me tell you, I know first hand..It is horrible They are knowwhere close to Canadians in this field.
If you have an opinion that's great, but do a little research before you speak. You are no better than a flamer!
It's been a great debate but I'm through. Good luck with your studing, you have alot of work ahead of you!
In ALL industries their are poorly trained staff along with highly regarded ones as well. So you complaining about the qualitly of the staff is meaningless. It's a fact of life. I wonder which one you are in.
And regarding your "the customer is the problem" We are all customers and we ALL have to deal with crap. Whether it's in line at the market or shopping at different travel agencies. My suggestion. Deal with it. Yes, you may have to put up with other peoples crap and then again, we have to put up with yours. Catch 22 Mr. Day Trader. |
