So, this is a new product from HP. The one included in the new Sound Vision design is Part No. HDCS-2000 (640 x 480 Resolution, Color). This is their highest resolution sensor at this point, so it's probably at the high end of the price range, ~$25.
I'm thinking about buying an Olympus D220-L (VGA, ~$300). I know someone who used one to add photos to his web page—I checked it out, and the image quality was really quite good. But most people will probably wait for higher resolution, like your 1024 x 768. Still, the price is right, so this thing may sell. Perhaps the next generation will have what you want, plus a VGA CyberDisplay. What will it take for the digital camera to become a mass-market product? "Megapixel" resolution at less than $200?
