My gut feeling is that E-Machines sells less reliable systems than some of the other vendors who have systems costing a few hundred dollars more. E-Machines made a name for themselves with high-volume, extremely low-cost systems, but no one in the press is raising a stink over the no-name peripherals they use.

Then again, E-Machines is fortunate that the PC market has a lower standard of reliability than, say, appliances. After all, if Windows 98 crashes once a day (mine does), who's going to blame E-Machines for unreliability?
