Blue, in the strictest sense you are absolutely correct, but frequently parts of syllogisms are omitted and left to the listener to supply. You will find this device used all the time. The basic argument is : "You can't you believe so and so because he is [insert pejorative image here]". The argument is often shortened by simply stating the pejorative, as in: "Communist!" or "Nazi!" or "you are only worthy to kiss my ass" or some such form with the "you can't believe so and so because he is" understood. I do not engage people who resort to those shoddy tactics. They are sure signs of logical bankruptcy and further debate or discussion is pointless. TTFN, CTC
