Mika, homage is being paid to Q! shareholders because they were right and Ericy [you, Tero, Prof Loseagain, Bill Frezza - take that, and that, and that...] were wrong. Please don't expect any homage from me.

Ericy is now permitted by Q! to sell the CDMA invented by Ericy. Ericy seems determined to sell it, even though CDMA doesn't work in mobile. Ericy is even claiming they'll use some weird 4.096314159 chip rate so that what they sell won't be compatible with cdmaOne, which will be totally dominant in much of the world before 3G in any mode is building out.

We should believe them on the chip rate the same amount as we could believe them on everything else!

I care what the final standard will be because it is important to understand whether one's perceptions and conceptions end up matching reality or whether one was living in a dreamworld.

So far, it seems that the Q! world I occupy is quite real. More real than the fantasy world of naked King Ericy with their wonderful cloak of VW-40.

It's also fun to gloat! Please stick around so that we can gloat to you. Gloating at Bill Frezza is getting embarrassing. Tero and Raymond will be good for some more gloating too.

Vodafone, NTT, Ericy and others are now scrambling in undignified haste after a protracted negotiation over CDMA to get a 3G standard prescribed. NTT is in a very big hurry.

Sure, Q! gets royalties anyway, but we want efficiency so that subscribers can afford more handsets, buy more ASICs and pay more royalties. If there are multiple modes for no good reason, it will be bad for everyone other than the dog-in-the-manger types who might be able to exclude some suppliers.

Keep in mind that it was Ericy doing all the warmongering. Q! was minding their own business and Ericy came leaping the fence attacking Q! in court [failing of course] and making false claims to customers [which meant Q! had to prosecute Ericy]. Ericy also made false claims for years. It has been fascinating to watch and see how many people were fooled. People still are fooled. You, Tero and others.

It's amazing really.

Well, each to their own and the markets will pass their harsh judgement in due course [as is now happening with Iridium].

Maurice
