I'm just a little confused, though. We have four prices for corn, for example. We have "processor bids" and "terminal bids." We also have "closing cash" and "basis." If somebody knows what these bids represent, could you be kind enough to clue me in? I'm working on a system that takes into account the spread between cash and futures prices, and the book doesn't really delve into these specifics. I need to know what I'm doing before putting my money where my mouth is. Or should I just say, before I put my foot in where it doesn't belong!
