FROM GLOBE & MAIL SATURDAY:

Yet despite the weekly gains in resource stocks, Canadian Internet shares still commanded attention, as the consolidation of on-line companies appeared to be spreading.

Open Text Corp. made a third takeover offer of $235.5-million for PC Docs Group International Inc. Open Text ended the week up $4.50 at $57.50, with PC Docs up $1.35 at $8.55. Meanwhile, volatile shares of Bid.Com International Inc. shares soared $10.45 at $24.95 this week after announcing it had cobbled an Internet deal to sell books with Chapters Inc., which gained $1.75 to $32.25.

Other Canadian Internet stocks grabbing their 15 minutes were Internet-commerce developer Microform Inc., up $5.37 this week at $9.10, spurred by the rocketing stock offering of U.S. competitor Razorfish Inc., and printer software and wireless developer Infowave Software, up $2.12 at $3.80 on growing sales.
