The basic difference with the new pension is that the payout won't be
based on the last five years of service. It will be what you have accumulated in your cash balance. The cash balance is what you have in your pension now.
IBM will give credits of 1 to 4% for ten years to make up for any shortfalls it causes.
They are mailing out balance statements today.
