Wirless Trading:
NEW YORK, April 23 (Reuters) - Three small brokerages, including Southwest Securities Group Inc.'s (NYSE:SWS) online unit, on Monday joined a growing list of brokers that offer wireless trading to customers, w-Trade Technologies said. The Southwest unit, Mydiscountbroker.com, InvestIN.com Securities Corp. and U.S. Discount Brokerage will start using w-Trade's wireless trading system for the new service. Mydiscountbroker.com customers will pay about $30 a month, in addition to the one-time cost of buying a hand-held computer, smart phone or two-way pager. "If you have been exposed to online business, you can see this business is exploding, often faster than technology can keep up with," said Bruce Zucker, Mydiscountbroker.com's president, in a brief telephone interview. "We want to create as many avenues for our customers to trade as we can." Discover Brokerage, the online brokerage unit of securities firm Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co (NYSE:MWD), in February said it would offer trading through a Palm Pilot, a popular hand-held computer made by 3Com Corp (NASDAQ:COMS). Fidelity Investments, the mutual fund and brokerage company, since January has offered wireless trading through its InstantBroker service using a two-way paging device pager. w-Trade Technologies already has set up wireless trading for small brokerages 1800Daytrade.com, R.J. Forbes, InvesTrade and Wall Street Discount Corp through PalmPilot and other wireless devices. |
