Any idea on whether LCAV will apply for NASDAQ listing now that they probably meet the threshold requirements?
I agree with you about HMOs being potential purchasers. My HMO, which is one of the largest, current has a venture capital division. They are investing in complementary companies that meet the following criteria:
1. Current earnings
2. Solid business plan
3. Management team in place
LCAV certainly meet those criteria. In fact I might email the Division and suggest they check LCAV out!
As for JNJ, I have held JNJ for over ten years along with other pharma companies. I think the pharmaceutical companies are starting to skirt the delivery system business, notably with the pharmacy benefit management companies (PBMs). If Medicare reform includes mandated pharmacy benefits, then it will remove one barrier from the pharmacy companies moving into this arena. They have enjoyed the absence of regulatory scrutiny outside of the FDA. But if they become more regulated, they are apt to just dive into the delivery system business, too. They certainly have the bucks to buy and sell the HMOs several times over.
These are interesting times in health care. And the laser vision treatment business is still on the early part of the curve. Can't wait for the fun to begin when the SNRS LTK is approved!!
