Jenna: Shorting big cap net stocks in THIS market environment is simply gambling. Especially if one holds those short positions overnight. The major funds (like Tiger and Soros) short cause they CAN move the market if they throw enough money into it. But the "little guy" -- who follows the funds -- will likely get screwed. Some serious institutional short covering ended the day on Friday. Will those institutions go short again Monday? Or will they try to get the prices up so they can short again? I couldn't tell you. But what I can tell you is this -- I've seen several people who claim to be traders lose a fortune shorting AOL, AMZN and the like. But they simply aren't good "long-term" shorts until either they change fundamentally, or the FED raises interest rates. JMO
