Sounds like a really lousy deal.

$40 a month covers the bandwidth we have. The type of service you describe is what I think the cable companies could offer at a price sensitive $25/month or so once DOCSIS modems are available at retailers.

As I see it, the battle is about who implements first in the largest area. AOL is the classic example of this. Lots of better services exist, and have for years, but their mindshare still rules.
