Sam;

<<Didn't Komag close them down a couple of years ago? Or am I wrong about that?>>

Is this what you were vaguely remembering?: "AKCL sold its entire interest in Headway for $10.8 million to a group of new investors as part of a recapitalization. AKCL recorded the proceeds from this sale as a gain ($5.3 million, net of tax) in the first quarter of 1997. The Company will reflect its 50% share of this net gain in the first quarter of 1997." - Komag Web Site

Komag still owns 50% of AKCL which now has ops in Thailand to better service MKE and Fujitsu, its two primary customers. It is pure speculation on my part whether AKCL has any IP relative to glass substrates. In the past AKCL has just been another hole for Komag to bleed through.

Best,
Stitch
