That came at me out of nowhere. I was busy enjoying the imagery, nibbling at it with a small spoon. Guess the guy with the pruning shears snuck up on me.

When we were among the glory of the succulents in San Fran - there was among the aeoniums a small mat of something halfway between portulaca and iceplant. The flowers - !!!!THE FLOWERS!!!! were *red* in a way that is hard to describe. Indole red, sun dazzle red - a color beyond the ordinary saturation palette. The older flowers had faded to a fairly sedate Day-Glo magenta. But the new ones had this crimson super intensity somewhere between fresh blood and electrified neon. I just sat there for five minutes- hunched over and staring. Spouse was off keeping the Helenator out of trouble, and the more fragile plantings safe from the Helenator. I sat&stared; and some old Russian ladies unsecretly questioned my sanity. Skroom.

I want a clone of that plant; there was no label and that left me frustrated - feeling loss.
