That's an interest account, Darleen, although I'm at a loss to explain just what worked for you. I'm not familiar with UMG's voice provisioning techniques in your area. Perhaps Denver Techie, or someone else who is familiar with that particular buildout (implementation) can describe what's taking place there which makes it possible to use batteries as an elective form of backup, from the residence. I would tend to think that power line voltage and ringing current is being supplied over the coaxial line, even in the presence of a local utility power outage, and the batteries are only being used to power the local talk battery for the tel set. Or something like that. Anyone care to elaborate or correct this?
