Dushy,

Apparantly Schwab's "A-list" consists of those people having large accounts with Schwab (several hundred K +up), have been with Schwab for many years (didn't just open an account to get IPOs), and does substantial trading with them (good revenue generator so keep them happy).

Schwab allocates shares when H&Q, CS First Boston or JP Morgan are the LEAD underwriter. On Northpoint, CS First Boston (I think) is an underwriter but is NOT the lead. Therefore, Schwab will be LUCKY to get any shares at all.

On high-demand IPOs, the MOST shares even the "A-list" people will get is 100. Schwab would like for EVERYONE who requests shares that is qualified to get at least 100, but most often this cannot be the case.

Unless you meet all the conditions mentioned above, plan on "being pissed" on IPO day as there are only so many shares to go around. Of course, you can always buy after market.

Good luck

Gary
