I doubt very much that this type of failure is insurable as it was not caused by anything external to the company. The moral hazard issue would make underwriting this type of loss too difficult.

I agree that long term this is not a major problem. I do think that when the market is told how much this will cost in earnings per share next quarter, the stock will take a hit. It very possibly could turn the quarter into a loser, although it does not seem likely that this will cost over three million dollars ($0.06/share)
