To All, The Sunday Ads. 1. in-Comp-etent-USA featured a MaxTech Celeron 366 system for $695 on the cover. Inside, a 466 Celeron CPU brand system for $999, $100 cheaper than the all HP system 400 Celeron pictured below. An HP 433 system was $350 higher than the CPU system. Methinks a certain co. has to lower prices. A Compaq and IBM AMD systems for less than a grand didn't look too inviting, IMHO.
2. Office Depot features an E-Machines 400 Celery box only for $599, monitor for another $100.
3. No boxes on the front cover at short Circuit City. On the back cover, an E-Machines Cyrix 333 complete system for $499. Inside, 2 Celerys and an AMD.
4. Radio Shack has a Compaq box only for $599, with a no-name mpc 350. I don't think the Shacksters understand how tough this computer game really is. O.K., Computer Universe, Computer City and McCafee computer subs of Tandy went out of business, so I guess that last comment is a real "Duh!" <g>
5. Office Max has an AMD Compaq 350 system for $769.
6. Worst Buy has no boxes on the front cover. The back cover has an IBM AMD 350 package similar to #5 above for $899. Inside, PIII 500s from Compaq at an enormous price of $2469, with monitor. Is there anyone that dumb out there? <g> Several Celerys and AMDs inside, with the price leader a Compaq Cyrix 350 system for $699. Worst Buy is also giving away a free scanner with the purchase of a box. |
