Four (4) months have gone by since the first of the year. A comparison can be made for each stock over the 4 month period. The results are shown in the table. The group of 40 stocks is up 7 percent for the year while the SOX-X is up 6 percent. 24 stocks are up, 1 stayed the same, and the other 15 are down. The spread of performance is very wide from the top stock, LTXX with a 152 percent gain, to the bottom stock, AFLX with a 63 percent loss. This comparison shows once again, that to be a good stock picker in the semi-equips would be worth his/her weight in gold. Also, even more importantly, is when to buy and when to sell a particular stock.
