LRR, the freedom to which you allude is an illusion. What publisher does not retain editorial rights over what he publishes. The freedom of the First Amendment extends to the freedom that publishers may publish what they wish, without fear of government intervention. It does not impose the requirement to publish what the publisher does not wish to print. There is a major difference.

I am not talking about censorship. I am talking about editorial policy. And it is not a tough call. The kinds of things EE publishes are clearly intended for purposes proscribed by SI's Terms of Use.

And for the libertarians among us, the argument that the First Amendment somehow applies to SI and EE would constitute government interference with the right of people to control their own property. This is entirely different than the Nazis marching in Skokie, because in that case it would have been the government preventing the Nazis from exercising their right of peaceful assembly and redress of grievances.
