More Earnings Plays from Manufacturing, Internet & Chipmakers & newer drug/biotech companies (ANDX,CHRX,LIPO) for Second Quarter 1999.

There's even more. Now that manufacturing 'is "...finally ready to get up off the floor" and Chip companies, (First call said first quarter earnings rose 33% over the same period in 1999) ...There's no question, this recovery is real," says Marke Edelstone of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. This quarter I neglected Weyerhaeuser and Maytag, etc. and held on to an old favorite WCOM.. Meanwhile WCOM failed and the other two were great. This leads me to make a change in next quarter earnings plays scans & criteria. This change will encompass all the sectors that were struggling up until now.

Already 4th quarter 1998 earnings had some internet plays but not as fabulous as first quarter 1999 was. By next quarter we will have more internet plays coming into 'positive' earnings or much less loss, more chip makeers and probably continue the trend with the manufacturers leading us to the creme de la creme of these sectors for our earnings plays. Even MESG a newcomer had such good earnings the stock was up 27% on the news. Whether WCOM comes into play or not is no longer a query, I'd just as soon forget about it and get on to something with a bigger chance of beating the street.
