Penni, I did not mean that YOU personally were "insensitive". (And I personally am not Jewish.) From what I know of you, you are an exceedingly sensitive person, and I am truly sorry that I gave you reason to believe I think differently.
All I intended to say (curse cyberspace communication, anyway!) was that people who are the direct targets of hate messages (whether anti-Jewish, anti-black, anti-homosexual, or anti-whatever), and who have actually suffered from real persecution on racial/religious/sexual/national grounds, are most likely going to react more viscerally to the preachers of hate than the rest of us. However empathetic we are, we will have difficulty in understanding the depth of their feeling, or at least in sharing it.
And a question for you: what gave you the impression that Emile's postings especially "incense" me? What post? I think my responses to Emile and my subsequent comments, compared to others on this thread, have been quite restrained.
