Still, the Savage4 with its 64-bit memory interface is the only chip that can support a 32MB framebuffer using commodity 64 Mbit SDRAMs, which have a data width that is too small for chips like the Voodoo3 and TNT2 with their 128-bit memory interface. Consequently, the cost of the 32MB framebuffer on a Savage4-based card (four 4Mx16 devices) is conceivably comparable to that of a 16MB framebuffer on, say, a Voodoo3 (eight 1Mx16 devices).

Despite Savage4's inferior performance, isn't there a risk that OEMs will fall for the framebuffer/price ratio and use it to cause price pressure for OEM deals?
