If the court cases exist, you should be able to cite them, Sidney. If they exist, I bet they will be at the NRA web site, which will make it easy for you. I didn't twist anything--either they exist or they do not. I say that they do not, but am willing to keep an open mind if you can actually cite them.
Waco was a huge mess and a big mistake by the U.S. government. The government makes mistakes all the time. It is not logical, however, to argue that because Waco happened, the government is going to come and lock us all up if we cannot protect ourselves with our weapons. The people at Waco were armed, incidentally, and that fact did not prevent the conflagration from happening. A government, if determined, will use whatever level of force it deems necessary. So that is another illogical argument. Shall we all drive tanks tomorrow?
I would rather feel safe out on the street and in my home, and feel that my daughter is safe in school, than worry about another Hitler. There has never been any indication whatsoever that the U.S. government is planning to go door to door harming its own citizens, but there is a lot of evidence that all the weapons in our society lead to a lot of deaths that just don't ever happen in societies where handguns are heavily regulated. In those societies, people do feel safer, and are amazed at the way we live here, because it is so strange. |
