Ten,

Show me some Winstone 97 benchmarks. After all, that was what was current when the PII was first released.

Let's see--a good way to get this might be to extract info from Tom's site. On the same infrastructure (socket 7) K6 improved it's Business Winstone 97 score going from 200 to 233 MHz by 6.55%. Improving the P55C-200MHz score by the same percentage, we get a Winstone score of 53.49. The PII-233 Business Winstone 97 score was 57.8. That's an 8% improvement.

I'm willing to bet the K7-500 is 8% faster than a PIII-500 on Business Winstone 99. After all, the K6-III with 2MB on the motherboard is already capable of beating the PII by this kind of margin.
