Thanks for the response. The way I understand your answer is that once the CIH virus has infected a computer, all of its exe files are infected, and any contact with them by other computers on the network spreads the virus. Right?

OK. Here's another one. I spent several hours trying to figure out which modem to buy. I would like to be speaker-phone enabled and full duplex and all that. Also would like it to be external to save a slot. I've heard that the super-expensive 3com Courier v.Everything is worth the money. But I'm thinking that their slightly cheaper model gives you the same basic technology except doesn't include the business-type stuff (firewall stuff, etc.). Do you have much experience with this stuff? Also, The Boca Research Tidal Wave w/Voice seems to have what I want and is a lot cheaper.

Is it true I can use a modem on another computer through a network? That would be pretty cool.
