Robert, I hope that things end well, so that we may rejoice at the triumph of justice in a troubled land. But there is at least some question, it seems to me, of whether or not the Administration is on the right track. I have defended intervention, but I cannot defend the clumsiness of this action. For that reason, the sense that defeating Milosevic over- rides all other considerations seems to me to be misplaced. Our primary concern should be with the Kosovar Albanians' well- being, their repatriation, and the stabilization of the situation. If that means doing business with Milosevic, than we should. We must consider the realistic options under current circumstances... |
