random thoughts...not from notes...

the tornado statement by tate is awesome. it seems quite out of character. he and other rmbs officials are not usually so effervescent. he was quite confident when i heard him speak in jan. last month he confidently predicted that year 2000 was rambus' year. now, we are in a tornado. this is fun.

the shorts and zeev thought 40's were a sure thing and 30's likely. continuing high volume rmbs share purchases by stuart steele and the funds thwarted that. over 52% (and rising) or 11.5+ million shares are now held by institutions (hopefully long). about 5 million by insiders and 1+ million by stuart. that is about 17+ million. that leaves less then 5 million shares. more shares than that are sold short. i hope everyone here follows the suggestion to transfer rmbs shares to a cash account.

if you can afford to short 5 million shares, you can probably afford to arrange some negative press.

stuart's prediction that this stock will be up in july looks very logical to me. a very trusted friend has informed me that amd is scrambling and wants to release k7 with rdram in june. this will put huge pressure on intc to intro rdram well before september.

samsung has production right. apparently hyundai and lsi do too. these three companies have sufficient capacity to meet the probable rdram demand into early next year. micron has always been scheduled to begin rdram production at year end. the slow down by some of the smaller producers is good for micron. intc got 6% of micron for the $500 million. imo, micron has to produce the more profitable rdram to justify that to their shareholders. these rdrams will be needed next year to continue the rdram ramp and for the new rdram laptop chipset, and other high volume rdram consumer products (hdtv, printers, scanners, etc) due next year.

schlumberger has or is opening four rdram production consulting offices worldwide. these folks have production right. they have test equipment right. they are making a bold move to be a central figure in the rdram production ramp up.

the projected worldwide shortage of dram's is good news. prices should stay firm or increase.

the continued unwavering support from intc, sony and toshiba is great too.
