Interesting comments from Carla Kennedy [FC/ Indirect channel]

<<Many storage and Fibre Channel products are introduced at NAB because of the broadcast industry's need for high-speed data and video streaming, said Carla Kennedy, vice president of marketing for Ancor Communications Inc., Minnetonka, Minn., and a member of the Board of the Fibre Channel Association.
Fibre Channel is far from a broadcast-only technology, Kennedy said.
"I think there's going to be broad-based adoption of Fibre Channel. Every server vendor is adding Fibre Channel connectivity, and a lot will be shipped by the end of the year," she said.
At least two storage vendors, Ancor and Andataco Inc., San Diego, used NAB as the vehicle to enter the indirect channel for the first time.
Ancor recently signed a channel agreement with Consan Inc., a Gates/Arrow company. Consan will integrate and distribute Ancor's Fibre Channel switches as part of prepackaged storage area network (SAN) packages using products sourced from various vendors.
"We've been cautious about signing up resellers, as has the Fibre Channel community in general, because of interoperability issues," Kennedy said. "We've gotten through the obstacles. With people like Consan putting together kits, it helps.">> |
