PageMart Brings Wireless Messaging to the Palm III(TM) Organizer; Synapse Pager Card Lets Palm III Users Stay Connected
DALLAS, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- PageMart Wireless Inc. (Nasdaq: PMWI - news) introduces the Synapse(TM) Pager Card for the Palm III(TM) connected organizer, bringing one-way wireless Internet messaging capability to Palm III customers. Developed by PageMart, Motorola (NYSE: MOT - news) and Palm Computing Inc., a 3Com (Nasdaq: COMS - news) Company, the Synapse for the Palm III organizer will be available in June.

''The Synapse Pager Card combines the power of our wireless messaging network with the number one handheld computer on the market,'' said John D. Beletic, chairman and CEO of PageMart. ''The scope of international coverage available through PageMart allows Palm III users to remain connected when they travel in the Americas.''

The Synapse Pager Card, which has 2 MB of memory, can receive word messages up to 300 characters long and perform wireless scheduling updates. In addition, the Synapse has Sender ID capability so customers know immediately who is trying to contact them. The Synapse searches the Palm III Address Book to match the phone number with a name. Also, customers can view their messages and save them in categories they define, copy/paste message content into other Palm III applications, or perform keyword searches on their messages. The Synapse Pager Card allows users to keep Palm III organizer functionality including IR capability.

''The Synapse adds affordable and easy-to-use wireless messaging to the Palm III organizer,'' said Joe Sipher, director of wireless products for Palm Computing. ''Professionals will like the capability of receiving important messages and information while in meetings and on the go.''

The Synapse Pager Card receives messages even when the Palm III organizer is turned off. When a new message is received, the Synapse will automatically turn on the Palm III device and audibly notify the user. Messages that are not immediately acknowledged are stored in the Palm III organizer so they can be read at a later time. An added option for Synapse Card users is a free software application from OmniBrowse that allows subscribers to receive customized news, sports, weather and stock quotes.

Customers can purchase the $129 Synapse Pager Card, which is also compatible with all earlier Palm Computing® platform versions, at any PageMart store, through the company's website at www.pagemart.com, or by calling PageMart at 800-318-2010. PageMart offers multiple coverage and service options, including nationwide coverage with voice mail starting at $19.95 per month, as well as free Internet and e-mail messaging options.
