Z, I have converted at least 80 cds from .WAV format to .MP3 so that I could use the Diamond MusicMatch Jukebox 3 software and store all of my music. It takes up approximately 4.5 gigs of space in .MP3 format and I purchased a WDC 10gig hard drive solely for the purpose of filling the rest of the drive with music. I have also taken the 4.5 gigs of music in .MP3 and burned them onto seven CD-Rs. They are portable as is the 10gig music hdd that I purchased. Recently, I purchased a Quantum 13gig BigFoot drive to store a digital picture archive that I can utilize for various multimedia and website development purposes. Imagine how many people might be doing the same thing and have the same perspective as I do for storage and disk drive usage. I think the number of folks doing what I've done is probably smaller, but it may increase and may not be caught in the reported numbers for hdd units sold over the next few years (I am assuming this is true, and haven't consulted any numbers). Just something to think about. I'm still waiting for the some kind of announcements that would allow me to take a music-filled hard drive and plug it into a socket in my car--hence replacing my current stereo system. I think one of the main reasons that I haven't seen this yet is due to the lack of perceived market demand. Anyhow, I've said enough.

Cheers!
