DSL seems to provide better connections to the internet -- and its available in more places around the country. Here are some thoughts from someone over on the AOL board...

I can wait that long knowing AOL has DSL packages already...I currently have a DSL line and regardless of all the hype Cable gives, it's just that...hype...I was promised cable modem access in my area 3 yrs ago and it's yet to get here...Cable companies are slow in rolling the service out, and the agressiveness of DSL may just take a chunk of the market away from cable...also, regardless of the promise of "faster" internet speeds by cable, DSL gives you an unshared signal, which means you will get the same constant fast speed, regardless of how many other people in your neighborhood log on...with cable, your speed is shared and drops as others log on...AOL is smart, they will eventually connect us through both mediums, and most people who connect on AOL are people who aren't very computer saavy, so they will be reluctant to go to fast speeds at the cost of losing their AOL...they will find ways of having both...fast speed AND AOL. >>

AOL has some major DSL marketing partnerships that they are starting to roll out. They have an incentive to make DSL "the consumer standard" since @home is a big competitor.

Regards,

Scott
