IBM Network Station
Accessories & Upgrades

QuickOn for Running Windows

QuickOn for Running Windows is a
flash-card-based product made available by
the IBM Network Computer Division that adds
a new wrinkle to the Network Station family.

It let's customers local-boot a Network Station Series 300 directly into a
full-screen Citrix MetaFrame or WinFrame environment and gain fast access
to Windows applications running on the server. There's no need need to boot
the Network Station over a Wide Area Network -- which can be
time-consuming -- or install a local boot server.

QuickOn for Running Windows includes all the software you need for
dedicated Windows access -- including the Network Station kernel and the
Citrix ICA client -- ready to run. Because it places everything in the flash
card, there's no need for any other boot or management software, and
almost no time needed for installation or configuration.

Best of all, just one Network Station Series 300 with QuickOn for Running
Windows can "buddy boot" approximately ten more Network Stations, so an
entire workgroup can be up and running in minutes!

QuickOn for Running Windows is primarily intended for customers that
require access only to Windows applications, but it is also ideal for those
who may later want to take advantage of the full Network Station capability
by removing the flash card and booting instead from Network Station
Manager.

QuickOn for Running Windows ... a smart way to get the best of what thin
clients and Windows have to offer. And one more example of the
extraordinary versatility for which the IBM Network Station has long been
known.

QuickOn for Running Windows highlights:

Works exclusively with the IBM Network Station Series 300 Includes a
self-contained, 8MB linear flash card pre-loaded with the Network Station
kernel and the ICA client configured for local booting One flash card can
"buddy boot" approximately ten other Network Stations Supports servers
running Citrix MetaFrame 1.0/1.8 (Windows NT 4.0 environment) and
WinFrame 1.7/1.8 (Windows NT 3.51 environment) Boots to a
MetaFrame/WinFrame logon screen in as little as 28 seconds Far simpler
to implement than a "do-it-yourself" flash card solution Makes it simple to
switch Network Station from Windows-only capability to full thin-client
Estimated flash card price: under $100
