Makes perfect sense! What Adamou was saying, as I understand it, is that Amazon could have been a platform provider instead of a retailer. After all, they (Amazon) developed a very workable system for doing business over the Internet. Had they decided to market their system to other companies instead of carrying other companies products on their system, they would be larger than imaginable right now.

However, fact has it that Amazon didn't and still isn't doing it and Microforum is. They're (Microforum) are like business consultants/advisors. You tell them what kind of business you conduct off of the Internet and they'll tell you how to conduct it on the Internet. They'll even provide the tools and management necessary for materialization and ongoing operations.

I don't think Amazon wanted anyone else to know the intricacies of their operation when they first got their site up and running. It was still fairly innovative and Amazon's plan was to take advantage of being an Internet Retail Pioneer and make as much money as possible before competition set in. So, I don't think Amazon was wrong for not marketing ecommerce platforms, rather, it just wasn't part of the overall picture at that time.

Now that everyone and their brother has seen how successful ecommerce has and can be... it's the perfect time to be selling ecommerce platforms. Microforum picked up on this and is taking advantage of the opportunity.
