Microsoft Talking With AT&T on MediaOne Assets, CNBC Reports New York, May 3 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp. is discussing with AT&T Corp. its interest in some of MediaOne Group Inc.'s international assets that could be peeled off the company once AT&T closes any purchase, financial news network CNBC said, citing unidentified persons familiar with the talks. Microsoft has been familiarizing itself with MediaOne operations. Microsoft Chief Financial Officer Gregory Maffei is in New York continuing talks with Comcast Corp., CNBC said. Comcast, the No. 3 U.S. cable-system operator, is trying to enlist Microsoft to help sweeten its bid for No. 4 competitor MediaOne. (CNBC 5/3 www.cnbc.com) I take the above as indication that is MSFT not going to get in the mix, but to pick up some left overs.
